Thank you, Hassan.

Extract from our College email:

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of one of our kindest, most helpful employees. Hassan I. passed away last night in Toronto after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held today for immediate family. Hassan, who worked in the Shipping and Receiving Department, was a bright, inspirational light for our College and will be truly missed.

I've known Hassan in the co-worker kind of way but even at an arm's length distance, he has touched many lives - me included. He worked for us in the Shipping Department, sometimes, he was the one who does the mail route, sometimes, you see him fixing the broken light bulb in the hall - but one thing that struck me too much about him was - his joy.

He calls everyone by their first names. He has a ready smile and that constant, How are you today, M question with a sincere tone to it. Who would ever think that this guy even had cancer??? Not a word of complaint, not a trace of grumpiness, but always - a happy, contagious smile.

Everyone in the College is saddened by his leaving. Hassan now lives permanently with God. That tall-coloured guy who has a very nice smile and genuinely caring disposition seats in the heavenly throne.

To Hassan, whereever you are - thank you. We will miss you all the time because you just recently was given the Customer Service Award and you still have to spend that Chapter's gift certificate! But most of all, we will miss you because you are a great person with a big heart.

We will commemorate you in your own MEMORIAL Award being set up right now by Fund Development. And yes, I will share my few monies - because I want you to know that you have touched many lives - me included.

Good night and God bless you.
