July 2 - Our hurried 3-day leave is over. We had a quick breakfast and headed out to the border early in case we're trapped on a 1.5 to 2 hour wait again - going back to Canada.
But to our surprise, it was smooth as smooth can be. Time check in: 5 minutes - no kidding!!! The border guy just asked us how much worth was in our suitcase and how long we stayed in WA. And, off we went! Now, that's my kind of travel!!! ;)
So, to kill time - as we won't board our flight till 2pm, and the car need not be returned till 12noon, we have 2 hours spare. So, we thought, hey - let's go explore Vancouver!!! ;)
Drove to Stanley Park and saw the devastation of the flooding and scooted around Granville Island. Sailboats abound and awesome, character houses are in the quiet streets of Vancouver. As most shops were still closed, we thought - okay, let's just do something boring - have a quick bite at Starbucks. hahaha I was in the market for smoked salmon but we were dang frustrated getting a parking that we just decided to chill in this Seattle-chain coffeehouse.
Vancouver, despite it's reputation for ALWAYS being overcast - that Monday, we felt that it was a good day. No rains, no cloud - in fact, it was a sun-shiny day! We will return, for sure!
On our way back, our AC flight was a delight! I guess when we're used to being starved in the plane, our 45 minute plane ride was great because they fed us with some light cheese crackers, a full Diet Coke and some gummy candy. Either they have lots to dispose of - or they're finally trying to play hard vs West Jet, anywhich way, the customers (we) won on this big time! :) Suddenly, I'm not very angsty with having to use Air Canada over West Jet for this.

hey weng! i haven't visited your blog in a while and was surprised to know that you were here for 3 days. seems like you enjoyed your stay with the shopping of course. :) where is bellingham though?!
hey you were in our part of canada! =) the past 2 weeks have been sunny - yaay! at least that left a beautiful impression of vancouver! next time we should meet up! =) weng naman, starbucks in granville island???

pia: i know!!!! it was pretty darn early when we strolled around (about 9am) so most shops were closed that day that's why we ended up just going around the downtown site - hence, starbucks. lol next time we go back, we have to hook up so i can see the lovely princess amori and your hubby too!!! :)
