B&I opted for a quick mini-moon because we thought if we postpone, we might end up not having to get away at all. And it was a great decision! :) We wanted to visit the Central/Eastern part of Canada as we have never been out there. We initially thought BC (Kelowna, Vancover, Victoria) but that's too long a drive and a ferry ride in the 7-days might not just cut it so it was an easy decision - Toronto, Niagara on the Lake, Niagara Falls is it via WestJet! ;)
September 17 (Sunday) - we touched down at 2:30pm but didn't get to check out till about 3:30pm. Dang baggage carousel is so slow and everyone was getting impatient already. Finally, at about 4:00pm, we were able to find our way to the Express bus that shuttles anyone from the airport to downtown Toronto. We boarded the bus a la Greyhound and had fun because the driver was equipped with nice stories as we traversed the highway.
At about 5:00pm, we got to our hotel - Days Inn at Carlton and Yonge St. It was a decent place and it is right smack in the city. We were billeted at the 23rd floor - supposedly the Executive Class. (Nothing much was there, I tell ya - except for the King bed which was not special too. lol)6:00pm - we checked out the restaurant of the hotel and it was teeming with people. Take note: OLDER people. So, we decided to take on our first adventure - walk the first 3 blocks of Yonge St. We ended up going to this 'chic' Asian fusion restaurant. It's quaint and has a good selection of food and we ended up getting Vietnamese food. For the first time, B tried the shrimp salad roll and was happy about it! lol See, he always says - he doesn't like it. Yet, in To, he ate it with gusto! funny!!!
We went to bed at about 8:30pm. We were dead tired! ;)
