That's Aidan on his newly-transferred room at the Stollery Hospital in Edmonton. He has been in the PICU for his open heart surgery then to the ICE room then finally to the ward to fully recover.
Aidan is 7 months old - and at that very young age, has underwent 2 major cardiac surgeries; the first one when he was 3 DAYS old, and this second one - just last Thursday. Angelic, serene, smiling - his was the picture of pure joy. B and I found it surreal that a little boy this age would have to endure this kind of health process - but the thing with innocence is that, he does not know any better... yet, he probably just knows that the operation is just a way of (his) life - to get to the next stages of running, playing, living...
We had tears in our eyes. He is a picture of happiness - that deep, peaceful elation called JOY - it's unexplainable. We just know that when he touched our fingers on his tiny hands, there is love, there is hope, and most of all - there is life. The two hours that we spent with him is magical and heavenly - never mind the six-hour drive (back and forth) from Calgary to Edmonton.
To Aidan's beloved parents, my cousin Bong and his very lovely and devoted wife Abbie, hats off to you! This Winnipeg-based family is a source of inspiration. Truly, a family that prays together, stays and is BLESSED forever.

Take care and we hope to see you in September.
