Last year, when he turned the big 3-0, we were actually staying in my sister's house as we are about to take possession of our home. That said, we just had simple barbecue lunch and he was still having issues with his back so we did not do much activities.
To make up for last year, I made dinner reservations with his favourite hockey team's 'restaurant' in the downtown core. We were both excited as we have never been to it since it opened last year. But, dang restaurant cancelled my reservation because apparently, they are not open for dinner! I was upset but birthday boy was livid to say the least! So, we ended up having dinner at Melrose - it's the closest to re-living great hockey moments. But of course, it's not the same.
And just because B is so well loved by my folks, we decided to have a simple dinner party at home. The kids are happy, the adults are fed and the birthday boy ecstatic!
Here is Joaquin enjoying Uncle B's Mario Wii driving game while Lola Be looks on.
And Gianna showing off her double turn step. She kept telling us she will be a ballerina someday! ;)
The folks enjoy their dinner and posing for the camera.
The birthday boy with good friend Fernando.
The two lolas (Lola Be on the left and Mamu - my mom on the right) enjoying their pancit and beef curry. Thanks mom for doing mostly of the cooking! ;) lol
Here we go with the lighting of the cake. Three 'lighters' are better (and safer) than one. lol Fernando, B and Gerald (all DeVry grads!) light the candles!
Make a wish, hun!!!! :) Yes, the cake was home-made and from scratch!
And here we go with the blowing of the birthday candles. Funny note: After the candles were blown off, the fire alarm in the house went off! hahaha
Next up: The food!!!!!
